The seawater cooling pipeline project undertaken by China Communications Construction Group (CCCG) in Saudi Arabia.
Project Overview:
Constructed by China Harbour Engineering Company and built by CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., the project is located in Jazan Industrial City, Saudi Arabia.
The “Dragon” Reference:
A high-density polyethylene (HDPE) intake pipeline with a total length of approximately 6,600 meters and a diameter of 3.5 meters. This is currently the largest-diameter submarine pipeline of its kind ever installed globally.
DOOWIN supplied all Mono Buoyancy Units to provide buoyancy support.

Technological Breakthroughs:
- Overcame challenges posed by the Red Sea’s high salinity, strong corrosiveness, and complex sea conditions.
- Applied adaptive electrofusion welding ring technology, controlling welding deviation within 1 millimeter.
- Completed the floating, towing, and submersion of an ultra-large-diameter pipeline in an unprotected open sea area, setting a world record.
Significance:
The project provides nearly 3 million tons of cooling water per day to Jazan Industrial City, supporting Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” and demonstrating China’s robust strength in deep-sea engineering.
